Posted: June 15, 2022
The summer is nearly upon us, your static caravan with a packed timetable of holiday entertainment is booked and paid for. Now the real hard work starts – packing.
If you’ve chosen to stay at one of our caravans by the sea, such as the beautiful coastal Aber Bay site in Wales, or the more rural locations we offer in the UK, then chances are you want to enjoy a home from home, without the drudgery of domesticity.
In the past, caravan holidays have always been notoriously hard work. You literally have to pack everything, including the kitchen sink. All the bed linen, the towels, right down to mugs, plates, cling film, a knife, and fork. You need a holiday to get over the packing stress.
Then, when you get home, you’ll need another holiday to get over the stress of unpacking from your holiday.
If you’re reading this article, chances are you’ve been checking out the best caravan holidays for families, so let’s take the pressure off you a bit to give you a different kind of checklist. This is the best kind of checklist for a caravan holiday – all the joy and none of the hard work.
Fully Equipped Caravans
The first thing we want to clarify is that all our caravans are hired out fully equipped with everything you may need to make your stay comfortable – irons and ironing board, fully equipped kitchens with cooking utensils, TVs, garden furniture for balmy summer evenings. We have catered for all the general needs of the holidaymaker.
If there are specific items that you need to bring with you – for example, if you use hair straighteners, then make sure you remember to pack those. And nose trimmers – they tend not to be high on holiday makers’ list of priorities.
You might want to shop for a few grocery essentials – tea bags, coffee, bread, butter, jam, salt and pepper, eggs - so that you can make yourself a cup of tea when you arrive or crack open a beer with some nibbles to toast the start of your holiday. Your grocery list should include any of those items that are going to make you feel most at home. But don’t forget, many of our sites have café and restaurant facilities, or clubhouses with bars doing bar snacks. You are on holiday – give yourself a break from the cooking and washing up and eat out every night if you want!
Bed Linen and Towels
As one of the best caravan holidays for families, we ensure that each caravan is provided with a supply of freshly laundered bed linen and bath towels when you arrive. You may want to bring additional towels with you if, for example, you are planning a day on the beach or down at one of our indoor or heated outdoor pools, then you’ll need to bring your own beach towels with you.
For your convenience, there are laundrettes on most of our sites (except Bredon View and The Springs), so you can keep things fresh during the course of your stay.
If you need bed linen changing during the course of your stay, just ask us – we can arrange for any extra cleaning and laundry to make your holiday just that – a holiday.
Swimming Costume (except Bredon View)
And on that note, don’t forget your swimming costume. It would be a real shame if you couldn’t plunge into one of our heated pools because you left your budgie smugglers on the bed at home!
Walking Boots
All of our holiday caravan sites throughout England and Wales are located in the most beautiful of areas, with stunning country walks. Whether you enjoy a 15-mile hike or a gentle five-mile ramble, make sure you pack comfortable walking shoes. Otherwise, you might be adding blister plasters to that shopping list.
Sports Shoes
Whether your idea of working out is bending down to do up your laces or throwing yourself into a 10-mile run, our holiday caravan sites have a wide range of facilities to keep both adults and children entertained alike.
A Good Book
How often do you really get the chance to sit and read a book from cover to cover? We highly recommend you bring at least one or two with you. Put the smartphone away (we do have the internet on our sites, but we believe your customers benefit greatly from taking a break from electronic screens), pick up a book, and lose yourself in someone else’s story while wallowing in the peace and quiet of one of our beautiful holiday caravan sites.
Best Bib and Tucker and a Sense of Humour
Allens is well known for providing caravan holidays with entertainment. Most sites have clubhouse facilities where you can enjoy an evening of good wine, food, and live entertainment, meet up with other holidaymakers, or simply stay within your own excellent company. There’s nothing like getting dressed up for an evening of being waited on, having spent the day lounging around the pool, enjoying the beautiful countryside, or knee-deep in the local river fishing.
Be sure to contact us if an Allens holiday sounds like the one for you!
