Home / Blog / Holidaying this Jubilee Bank Holiday Weekend
Posted: May 18, 2022
We’re due a very long weekend this summer in commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II having spent 70 years on the throne. In addition to this, the spring bank holiday will also fall on Thursday 2 June; therefore, in essence, we’re promised a four-day weekend at the beginning of June.
Naturally, many people across the UK are using this as an excuse to book holidays and, as always, we suggest luxury caravan breaks in the UK. As this bank holiday is in honour of the Queen, it doesn’t seem right to jet off to an exotic country. Instead, you can get your holiday fix at one of our static caravan sites in the UK and still be in the perfect location to express your patriotism.
As one of the top holidays with entertainment in England and Wales, we’re keen to share our ideas about how you can celebrate the Platinum Jubilee on each of our parks. Since we’re among the best caravan holidays for families, these activities are ideal for individuals of all ages. Line up your Jubilee holiday entertainment with the help of Allens Caravans.
Throw a Park Party
Street parties are all the rage when it comes to celebrating anything royal, whether it be a wedding, a new baby, or a Jubilee. Naturally, when staying on one of our parks, you won’t be on a traditional “street”, but this might actually work in your favour when it comes to throwing a party. Our parks are comprised of a tight-knit community, meaning that getting people involved in a party should be no problem. Why not set up some tea, finger sandwiches, and cakes on the front porch of your holiday home and invite your neighbours to do the same? This way, you’ll be able to capture the essence of a street party on our parks.
Make Jubilee Crafts
Traditionally, royalists decorate their homes in order to celebrate the Jubilee, and what better way to decorate your holiday home than with homemade crafts? These crafts include bunting, hats, and paperchains. Whether you’re looking to get the kids involved in the festivities or you simply want to ensure that yours is the best decorated holiday home across the site, crafting is a great way to get involved in the celebration. You might even start a competition with your neighbours to see whose caravan is the best decorated. This is a great way to get everyone involved and invoke excitement about the jubilee.
Bake Traditional British Goods
No Jubilee party is complete without a delicious selection of British desserts. Instead of popping to the shop, why not make your very own delectable treats? Victoria sponge, scones, carrot cake, Chelsea buns, Madeira cake, shortbread, Eccles cake, Welsh cake, Battenberg, and sticky toffee pudding are just some of the most traditional British desserts that you can serve up in honour of the Queen. Each of our holiday homes is fully furnished with integrated ovens, meaning that baking is well within your reach this Jubilee weekend. Baking is something that all the family can enjoy, so make sure you get your chef’s hat ready in anticipation of the upcoming Jubilee.
The Jubilee in Worcestershire
Worcestershire is the place to be this Platinum Jubilee, with picnics, lunches, air festivals, afternoon teas, fetes, lightings, speed festivals, concerts, parties, and other celebrations all around the area. Therefore, if you’re staying at Abbot’s Salford, Leedons Park, Bredon View, or The Springs, you’re sure to be spoilt for choice when it comes to Jubilee activities.
One of the largest events in the area is the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Concert, hosted by the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. This is to take place at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham, which will require advance booking to attend. The show is set to be a performance of music written during the reign of Her Majesty, in honour of her service to our country.
The Jubilee in Northamptonshire
Northamptonshire is hosting a Big Picnic Lunch at Wicksteed Park, whilst The Big Lunch is set to hold other events around the area. Consequently, anyone staying at Overstone Lakes is in for a treat this Jubilee weekend.
On Sunday 5 June, everyone in the area is invited to the Big Picnic Lunch at Wicksteed Park, with more details to follow in due course.
The Jubilee in Wales
The Welsh government is getting ready for the Jubilee by closing a handful of streets in anticipation of the various street parties that are set to take place. Be sure to visit Sunbeach and Glan Y Mor to partake in the patriotism.
