This month will see many dates come and go but one that should definitely be marked on the calendar is International Day of Happiness which falls on Tuesday, 20th March. Although many of you reading this may already be pretty happy, it may be time to make a change for those of you who aren't.
If you're due to be working on this day, why not book it off and spend it with friends and family? Or perhaps consider taking a short break somewhere - you could even look at caravan holiday parks that are close by if you don't wish to travel too far? However, before you go ahead with any plans, you may want to know why this day of happiness is actually celebrated and where it originated from...
Celebrated throughout the world, the International Day of Happiness was introduced back in 2012 by Jayme Illien, a United Nations advisor who capitalised the idea for a U.N. Resolution. It is anticipated that this day will help everyone to recognise and join in on the pursuit of happiness as well as for it to become a fundamental human goal.
It was initially celebrated the following year, in 2013, and has been celebrated every year since. Although it may be too early to suggest that this day has made a national impact it has certainly helped many people. More and more individuals are joining in the celebrations each year; everyone deserves to be happy so why not celebrate it?
Now that you know a little about the history of this fantastic day you should now be planning what you will be doing to celebrate it. As mentioned, if you're at work, book the day off and make plans with family or friends. Or, if you'd rather, you could just stay at home and spend the day doing something that you love, such as reading a good book or indulging in one of your favourite pastimes.
Alternatively, you could get away from home entirely and book a well-deserved break. If it's just you then you have the freedom to go anywhere you like but if you're taking the family then you may need to find somewhere that's suitable for all. Either way, a caravan holiday park is an ideal choice, suitable for all ages and interests. If you have children then choose a site with entertainment facilities or if you're taking the dog, find a site that is suitable for pets and has lots of great scenery for leisurely walks.
On the other hand, if you wish to get away for some alone time, just relax and spend the entire time enjoying yourself; you do you - no doubt you deserve it and it's certainly a great way to make you feel refreshed.
Now that you know why and how you can celebrate International Day of Happiness this year, all that's left to do is decide on what you want to do with the day. Will you look at caravan holiday parks or simply take the day off and relax at home? Whatever you decide, just make sure that you're happy.
