Leave the Car at Home and Let the Train Take the Strain
Allens Caravans

Not everyone has a car.
That might seem an outrageous claim in a time when our roads are choked up, our cities are overflowing, and our motorways are metaphorically sinking beneath the weight of the traffic that thunders across our roads every day.

For some, it might be an economic issue – owning a car would just stretch their finances that little bit too much. For others, it may be a philosophical issue – they don’t agree with them being polluters.

Similarly, it might simply be because they never learnt to drive, never needed to use a car, and quite simply never got round to it.

In the UK, we have an excellent rail network. Not having a car does not necessarily mean that you cannot enjoy the facilities and entertainment opportunities offered at the many hundreds of holiday caravan parks across England and Wales.

If you’re searching for the best caravan holidays for you and your family, and don’t have a private car to get there (or indeed maybe you’d prefer to leave the stress of a car behind), then we have put together a guide to the public transport links to all our sites in the UK.

HOLIDAY PARKS IN WALES FOR FAMILIES

Aber Bay Holiday Park, Aberystwyth SY23

Aberystwyth is right on the west coast of Wales and is a popular destination for those wanting to enjoy the seaside, glorious countryside, and coastal walks. Frequent rail services can take you to Aberystwyth from Birmingham in less than three hours and from Shrewsbury in less than two hours.

Once you get into Aberystwyth, the Aber Bay caravan site, which has stunning sea views, is a half-hour walk from the station along the coastal footpath. Though chances are you will have too much luggage so a short taxi ride will get you to your holiday destination in no time.

Sunbeach, LL37

The main station destination for Allens Sunbeach caravan site is also Aberystwyth. The onward journey is a little bit longer but is so beautiful it should be compulsory.

From Aberystwyth, you can take a second train to Dovey station – about a 25-minute journey. Change at Dovey station for Pwllheli for a half-hour journey that will take you to Llwyngwril. These two legs take you along the coastal path and are one of the most stunning rail journeys in the UK – a definite advantage to choosing Sunbeach as your holiday destination in Wales. Once you arrive at Llwyngwril, the site is only a mile away – perfect for a short taxi ride.

CARAVAN HOLIDAY HOMES IN WORCESTERSHIRE AND WARWICKSHIRE

Allen’s has four sites in and around the Worcestershire area. We have located the main destination stations for each below.

Once you get to the chosen station, bus links are few and far between and are never the most reliable (timetables chop and change all the time), so a taxi might be the best choice to reach your chosen holiday caravan site. But if you see it as a challenge, the Moovit app will help you find the best route.

Abbot’s Salford Holiday Park, WR11

The nearest train stations are Evesham (4.8 miles from the site), Honeybourne (5.5 miles), and Wilmcote (9 miles).

The Springs, WR10

The nearest train stations are Pershore (3 miles), Worcester Foregate Street (11.5 miles), and Worcester Shrub Hill (11 miles)

Leedons Park WR12 7HB

The nearest train stations are Evesham (5.5 miles), Cheltenham Spa (16 miles), Worcester Foregate Street (20 miles).

Bredon View WR10 3DY

The nearest train stations are Pershore (3.3 miles), Worcester Foregate Street (11 miles), Worcester Shrub Hill (10.7 miles)

NORTHAMPTONSHIRE

Overstone Lakes NN6 0BD

The nearest train station to the Allens Overstone Lakes holiday park in Northampton is either the main Northampton train station (6.5 miles), Wellingborough (7 miles), or Kettering (10 miles).

There is a bus route from Kettering – the X10 bus. Get off at Overstone Road opp, The Horseshoe pub, in Sywell. Then 30 min walk to Overstone Lakes (or better still, stop at the pub for a pint and some lunch and call a taxi).

Whichever mode of transport you decide to use to reach your destination holiday caravan site, once you arrive, you have all the facilities you need to enjoy your holiday.
