Sunbeach: Sand, Sea and Surf!

The beauty of our Sunbeach holiday park in North Wales is that it caters for everyone; all ages and all tastes. Excited families, adventurous friends and adrenaline-seeking couples or individuals can all enjoy themselves at this superb location.

Not only are there plenty of onsite facilities to keep you occupied, but the park also benefits from its stunning seafront location and Snowdonia National Park backdrop. Miles and miles of seaside, countryside and mountain walks will satisfy those who prefer exploring by foot, whilst the excellent selection of local beaches will satisfy the tastes of thrill-seeking water babies.

Specifically, the area offers a lot in the way of quality surfing, with beaches suited to all abilities.

Yes, the surfing scene in North Wales is thriving, especially in the summer. And our Sunbeach park is right in the thick of it. So if your youngsters need a new way to expend their energy, or if water sports have a special place on your Bucket List, make time to try out surfing this summer!

Below, allenscaravans.co.uk have listed five of the best beaches for surfing and water sports in the Barmouth (Sunbeach) area. So check them out and get ready to hang loose and catch some waves!

Barmouth Beach

This well-known and picture-perfect beach is home to the quaint town of Barmouth and a fantastic surfing spot. A sandy shore and superb water quality, it is ideal for everything from surfing and sailing to kayaking and jet-skiing.

Fairbourne Beach

Miles of sandy and rocky shore make for a lovely spot at Fairbourne beach, whether you want to get stuck into surfing and windsurfing, or just fancy a picnic whilst you watch the water sports enthusiasts do what they do best. Another bonus is that the beach has restricted dog-friendly areas, as well as plenty of facilities to make the day more comfortable.

Tywyn Beach

A beautiful sandy beach with a long shoreline and a promenade running parallel, Tywyn is a stunning place to spend your summer. Blue skies, blue water, and stunning coastal scenery as far as the eye can see. The surfing here is fair, and if you don’t feel like taking to a board, the area is a top spot for all sorts of other water sports.

Tal-y-Bont Beach

Tal-y-Bont is a truly stunning location on the North Wales coast. With green topped hills and mountains providing a breathtaking backdrop as you look back from the sea, expanses of sand and expanses of shingle, you couldn’t ask for a better-looking surfing spot. And while dogs are banned for the summer, the basic facilities and minimal hassle from animals means you can go back to a pure and authentic beach experience. So enjoy the view, the beach and the superb water quality.

Surf Snowdonia

Of course, not all surfing hotspots have to be conventional beaches. This is evidenced by the wonderful Surf Snowdonia Wavegarden; an inland surf lagoon where you can learn and improve existing surf skills, nestled amongst the peaks and valleys of Snowdonia National Park. Check out this innovative attraction here. A wonderful and fun alternative to traditional beach surfing.

Of course, these five beaches are by no means the only ones to explore on the North Wales coastline. Nor are they the only surfing hotspots conveniently located near our park. They are a good place to start though.
