If you want to travel across the country in the new year in a caravan that’s bound to turn heads when travelling along the A1, why not be inspired by one of Britain’s most loved designers, Cath Kidston?

Recently a Cath Kidston-inspired caravan was sold on eBay for nearly two thousand pounds, demonstrating how giving your caravan a retro feel not only will help yours stand out from a crowd, but will demonstrably bump up its price.

The caravan which was sold was originally produced by Lord Munsterland Company, a German-based business prominent in the 1990s for manufacturing lightweight caravans and motorhomes that were long-lasting and utilised the latest technology. Alongside its excellent production credentials however was also its eye-catching design, decorated with beautiful baby pinks and pastels and the infamous nostalgic floral patterns associated with the British fashion designer.

On the inside the stunning vintage caravan known as ‘Vera’ featured a variety of floral fabrics and polka dot prints, hosting a diner style floor and dining table ideal for hosting in a back garden or as an upgrade from the tent for any cheap caravan holidays and last minute getaways.

Not only was the caravan’s aesthetics impressive, but it was also fully operational, being able to tow back and forth to various destinations and sleeping 3-4 people. This is a major reason why Caravan Times hosted it on their website as its Used Caravan of the Week, leading it to be quickly snapped up by a seller the next day.

Whilst Vera may be in the hands of another, that’s no reason for caravan owners across the country to dash their hopes of owning a vintage and timeless caravan themselves. Not only will giving a neglected caravan a lick of paint and some retro re-upholstery improve its appearance, but it will also make for a rewarding DIY project which will further add to its value.

Cath Kidston Inspires Stylish Caravan Décor Trends

Cath Kidston is an ideal designer to take inspiration from as this year her company was set for a £250 million flotation, benefitting from having over 200 stores all across the world and having a turnover of £100 million this year in Europe alone. The booming popularity of her designs therefore demonstrate how decorating your caravan with embroidered cushions and polka dot prints is a great idea if you’re planning to re-sell or just want a caravan that’s bound to get you noticed.

You could also take inspiration from a number of other popular designers, including Paul Smith’s ultra-contemporary stripes or the bold textile designs of Celia Birtwell. There are also plenty of both exterior and interior designs ideas available from visiting the Gromit Unleashed website, a charity art campaign which saw over 40 acclaimed British artists design their own Gromit sculptures earlier this year, which were auctioned and helped raised over£2.3 million altogether for Bristol’s Children’s Hospital.

Whichever way you decide to decorate your dream caravan, transforming its design will not only be an ideal opportunity to get crafty and creative in the New Year, but will also boost its value if you decide to re-sell, converting your crumbling caravan into a perfect holiday home for those who buy it.
