The Summer Season: What’s Not to Love?

From shining sun to warm seas, the summer months are undoubtedly some of the best. The majority of Brits just love to work on their tans and take advantage of the gorgeous weather in flip flops, bathing suits and shorts. Aside from sunburn and wasps, there's not much to dislike about this sunny season and in spirit of the coming blue skies, we have compiled a few reasons why we Brits love summer. So whether you're packing up for a caravan holiday with Allen's or staying put at home, read on to see what's to love about summer.

One of the most obvious and possibly most welcoming traits of the season is the beautiful weather and for those living in the UK, family holidays and short trips away in the caravan are not far out of reach. With the sun high in the sky, there's so much you can do during the summer, from attending festivals to spending a pleasant night down the pub; nothing compares to a little summertime nostalgia. The season also gives us a chance to get over the dreaded winter features of numb fingers, sniffy noses and wind-blown rosy cheeks, instead swapping them for sun-kissed tans and the seasonal favourite of ice-cream down by the beach.

Of course, food deserves its rightful place on our list of the best things about summer. From barbeques to fruit platters, the very idea that you can go outside and eat without being caught in a rainstorm is more than exciting. So too is the prospect of the cooling desserts and light lunches associated with the season. If you're struggling for a little inspiration, check out sites like BBC good food and even Pinterest for a collection of recipes, unique layouts for when you have the family over and ideas on how to have fun with your cooking this summer.

Now it might sound a bit sappy, but you get the picture. Part of summer's appeal is the flowers in full bloom after a long-awaited and beautiful spring season, combined with splashes of colour spread throughout the garden and wildlife coming out because they're not going to freeze their butts off. One of the best parts about summer is the chance you have to explore; hikes, bike rides and field walks are all great ways to get the most out of your summer and see the beauty of nature. Longer Days

During the winter, the moon comes out before you've even had a chance to make it home from work but the summer sun has a very different idea during this hot season. Instead of having to wrap up warm, pop on your wellies and an extra pair of socks to walk the dog, you can lounge outside on the patio or on a blanket on the fresh green grass. Imagine that, being able to just relax in the summer heat after a long day at work.

From all of us here at Allen's Caravans, have a fantastic summer and we hope you make the most of what this sunny season has to offer.
