Go Throw a Swellegant, Elegant Party

It is important that the communities on Allens residential caravan parks have plenty of events and social gatherings to keep them entertained. Evening affairs are ideal because they give everyone something to look forward to, and they are a very different treat to the normal boules tournament or summer barbecue.
So where do you start? Well, the 1950s are a popular choice for many because there is plenty of glitz, glamour and good times associated with the era.
You see, you don’t have to go all-out Grease or jive to rock 'n' roll music until the wee hours. Instead, you can take a more sophisticated approach, drawing inspiration from the likes of the 1956 Hollywood classic, High Society.
For those of you who have had the pleasure of seeing Cole Porter’s musical masterpiece, the ‘swellegant’ elegant appeal will not have escaped your attention. And for those who haven’t seen High Society, a party is the perfect way to experience its charm.
Whether you see the stage adaptation at The Old Vic this summer, or you watch the captivating cast (Grace Kelly, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby) and story on screen, you will fall in love with the whole shebang.
That is why High Society is the perfect source of inspiration for an elegant evening affair on your residential park.
So read on to see how to recreate the sensational look and feel of the movie, and how to throw your own High Society soiree. View our stunning residential parks and make a decesion that will change your surroundings forever!
The Ideal Décor

To start with, you’ll need plenty of space (for dancing) and plenty of potential (for decorating). Muted tones and pastel palettes of pinks, lilacs, greys and blues are perfect for an enchanting backdrop, whilst soft, luxurious textures like taffeta, chiffon and silk are synonymous with the glamorous fifties.
In the absence of a chandelier, consider candlelight or dimmed lighting, and taffeta pom poms or soft drapes work a treat as decorations. Stack champagne bowls in a pyramid, serve snacks on silver trays and put flower arrangements in the centre of perfectly laid tables for full effect.
The Appropriate Attire

If ever there was a time to don your glad rags, this is it. An elegant get-together for a big crowd calls for sharp suits and classic cocktail or evening dresses – the ones that graze the calf or float along the floor. Men should be embracing their inner Sinatra, whilst ladies should feel free to give Grace Kelly herself a run for her money. Be sure to put the dress code on the invitation, so everyone has plenty of time to prepare.
The Perfect Score

For any party to be a success you need a perfect score; musical score, that is. The best place to start is by looking at the musical icons in the cast of the film. Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong all have a string of hits you can choose from, as do their contemporaries. Then there is the film soundtrack itself; people can shuffle to Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Did You Evah? Or they can partner up and smooch to You’re Sensational – a wonderful way to spend an evening.
Of course, creating the perfect backdrop is a good start, but the evening will depend on the enthusiasm of those involved. So get the word out, encourage your neighbours to be involved and ensure you have a great group of guys and gals in attendance.
Then you can enjoy yourself, sipping champagne and swaying to the music at the most swellegant, elegant shindig in town.
