Perfect Caravan Playlist - Allens Caravans Blog Updates
Allens Caravans

Whether you plan on spending your spring bank holiday at a riverside retreat or you’re looking forward to enjoying the beach whilst staying in your very own static caravan with Allens Caravans, no holiday adventure is complete without the perfect soundtrack. But where do you start?

Do you go for a full-on upbeat playlist or do you choose something a little more chilled out? Do you have a mixture of both? So many questions combined with the other one hundred and one things you have to think about when you’re going on holiday means the music can often get overlooked. However, we think it’s important to have the perfect soundtrack to suit your surroundings and set the tone for the rest of your trip.

So, to help get you started here are some of our river and beach holiday-themed suggestions for the perfect holiday playlist:

For A Relaxed Riverside Retreat

When it comes to a holiday music playlist for fishing trips and waterside stays, here some classics that you absolutely need to have!

 The River – Bruce Springsteen

The harmonica opening, Springsteen’s distinctive voice and nostalgic lyrics about wandering up and down valleys and enjoying the river make this perfect for a rural, riverside setting. A beautiful song with great imagery and metaphors for youth and optimism.

Cry Me A River – Justin Timberlake

Not directly about a river, this catchy pop song helped to launch Timberlake’s solo career. Its recognisable opening chord progression, choral backing and borderline-edgy lyrics are easy and entertaining to listen to whilst the underlying beat will get you nodding along. A piece of early 00s pop history.

Big River – Johnny Cash

This song is country to the core and it is made all the more enjoyable because it has that unmistakable Cash sound. The song really tells a story and the arrangement is a stroke of musical genius, being subtle and simple but a toe-tapper all the same.

Take Me To The River – Tom Jones

With a funky beat, Jones’ powerhouse voice and lyrics full of cheeky double entendre all make this song something special. It makes you want to let loose and dance, sing along and simply have fun – all at the same time. It’s certain to liven up a quiet afternoon by the river.

Just Fishin’ – Trace Adkins

Country music crooner Trace Adkins’ Just Fishin’ is a heartfelt song about daddy-daughter bonding whilst fishing on the river. The storytelling in this song is fantastic and the music itself has a wonderful, uplifting summer vibe – perfect for a relaxed fishing holiday. For The Ultimate Beach Break

Lots of our caravan parks are situated perfectly next to the beach, so if you’re staying at a park like Sunbeach near Cardigan Bay, you’ll want some aptly suited caravan holiday songs to relax and soak up the sun with.

Surfin’ USA – Beach Boys

When you think of music that embodies the summertime and the beach, you instantly think of the Beach Boys. Whilst you may not catch many waves going on caravan holidays in Wales the Beach Boys’ huge summer hit Surfin’ USA is the ideal song to enjoy on the beach. It’s upbeat, fun and a song entirely about the beach and beach activities – definitely, one to get you in the beach holiday mood.

Heads Carolina, Tails California – Jo Dee Messina

This classic 90s country tune is an upbeat toe-tapper that you can’t help but sing along to. It is all about adventure and deciding which beautiful beach to go and explore – Carolina or California. The music and the lyrics will have you itching for your own beach adventure in no time.

California Gurls – Katy Perry

Katy Perry’s summer anthem is a fun, almost bubble gum pop track that makes you want to throw your hands up in the air, sing along and party on the beach. The lyrics are easy to pick up and the tune is infectious. A top tune to play when you want fun in the sun.

Soak Up The Sun – Sheryl Crow

Soak Up The Sun is a typically Californian beach tune. It oozes chilled out summer vibes and lets you imaging yourself catching a few gnarly waves. This song will have you beach ready in no time, just listen to Sheryl’s lyrics about lightening up and spending all day soaking up the sun.

Margaritaville – Jimmy Buffet

Buffet’s relaxed and iconic beach song is a well-told story from start to finish. Thanks to his wonderful lyrical descriptions and the brilliantly simple musical arrangement, you can actually imagine yourself listening to this summery tune on a Mexican beach near Margaritaville. This is certainly the song to get you in the summer spirit.

Countryside Retreat Playlist Songs

If you’re holidaying in one of our parks nestled in the Great British countryside, you’ll likely want less beach pop tunes and more classic country songs to tap your toes along to. Here are some of our favourites that you might want to add to your playlist:

Country Roads, Take Me Home – John Denver

This classic country track talks all about the beautiful West Virginia landscape and the memories that welcome Denver home to his mining town in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Home – Dolly Parton

The Queen of Country sings all about the freedom, the simple pleasures and the laid back beauty of her rural Tennessee home. Isn’t that what everyone wants?

Sweet Home Alabama – Lynyrd Skynyrd

This Country-infused Southern Rock classic has become an anthem in the South, epitomising a strong love for ‘Alabamy’ state.

Where the Green Grass Grows – Tim McGraw

Despite being one of country’s leading men, McGraw declares his love for the simple country life in this tune.

Where I Come From – Montgomery Gentry

A heartfelt and strong Country song about being fiercely loving and protective of your roots.

Home – Blake Shelton

A country rendition of this classic which talks all about that powerful pull we get to go back home, wherever we are.

The House That Built Me – Miranda Lambert

Mrs Blake Shelton sings all about her roots, and how her simple rural home helped build her into the woman she is today.

Who Says You Can’t Go Home? – Bon Jovi and Jennifer Nettles

This collaboration between the rocker and the southern songstress is all about spreading your wings but finding your way back home, no matter what.

Thank God for Hometowns – Carrie Underwood

A sweet song about the familiarity and welcoming feeling you get from hometowns, sung beautifully by a Country powerhouse.

Honey, I’m Home – Shania Twain

No stranger to simple, straightforward, sing-along songs, Shania offers another brutally honest account about long days and the refuge offered by home.

Fields of Gold – Sting

The song itself is a wonderful mix of soft 90s music and Sting’s distinctive raspy voice. He sings of the sun’s jealousy as lovers lie in fields of barley and continues to tell a beautiful story of summer love that makes you feel both nostalgic and excited for what summer holds, all at once.

Black Horse and the Cherry Tree – KT Tunstall

KT Tunstall’s distinctive voice and fun, folksy style blend well with a semi-upbeat pop feel in this song.

What a Wonderful World – Louis Armstrong

Louis Armstrong is one of the original kings of cool and this iconic song of his is a favourite for all generations. It is all but impossible not to love this song and you are sure to fall in love with the countryside when you hear it.

Green, Green Grass of Home – Tom Jones

If you are going on a caravan holiday in Wales (or really, anywhere in Britain) then Tom Jones is an apt choice for your playlist.

There you have some great ideas to help you start building your perfect holiday playlist. There are lots of themed songs as well as caravan songs with the right tone to suit whatever kind of holiday you’re planning, whether you need a soundtrack for your fishing holiday with Allens Caravans or just something to play in the background at the beach.

Music makes a big difference in setting the tone and affecting the mood of things like holidays so make sure you pay attention to your playlist. What caravan holiday songs suggestions do you have?
