Reinvent the Picnic this Autumn

As the last few days of summer are meandering along, teasing us with surprisingly warm days and you find yourself reminiscing the times you clamoured for a BBQ to make the most of the weather, why not carry on your summer with an autumnal picnic to die for in one of our many caravan holiday parks.

allenscaravans.co.uk have so much more to offer than just summertime getaways. Join us at one of our many caravan sites across the UK, whatever the weather, and we guarantee a relaxing time to be had by all. With autumn just around the corner, the leaves slowly falling to the ground and the mornings a little crisper, what better way to enjoy the last few moments in the sun than with a fantastic season appropriate picnic?

A wide variety of fruit and veg come into season every few months, so make the most of the best that autumn has to offer. Apples, pears, pumpkins, parsnips, leeks and cauliflower a plenty, it's not surprising that we lust after a hearty stew, thick vegetable soup and a hot drink. However, these little beauties have so much more to offer than just comfort food.

Choose one of our cheap caravan holidays and utilise the luxurious kitchens to rustle up something special and create a fantastic picnic for an afternoon you won't forget in a hurry.

Fry some thinly sliced parsnips, sweet potatoes and beetroot to make home-made gourmet crisps - these will blow your mind. Make a chunky, creamy butternut squash soup and sprinkle with toasted seeds and a drizzle of crème fraiche. Make your own scotch eggs and pair with cheese, crackers and fruity chutney for a flavour sensation. Bake a pear and sultana bread for a delicious, fruity alternative to cake for dessert. Or, for those with a sweet tooth, go for the traditional caramel apple. Finish the picnic off with some spiced mulled cider and fight off the evening chill with a warm glow. You can literally taste autumn, just thinking about it.

Sound good? Don't miss out on all the fun, food and magic that autumn has to offer, grab a cosy blanket, some ceramic mugs and get picnicking with the best of them. With caravans for hire all over the UK and Wales, Allens Caravans are ready and waiting to get your autumn off to a bang - after all, it will soon be Bonfire Night! Where will you spend yours?
