Make a Move this Summer

There comes a time in life when you need to take stock a while, and take it all in. You've had a great life; a successful career, happy, healthy children - and grandchildren, too. Most importantly of all, you are very happily married and still have the rest of your life ahead of you to relax and enjoy your time together.

The kids have flown the nest and successfully built their own, which usually means one thing: it is time to downsize the family home. For many people, downsizing allows them to live comfortably in a home that is much more appropriately sized - even with a spare bedroom for guests - and a little extra cash to play around with during retirement.

Holiday homes in the Mediterranean can be tempting, but for many, upping sticks and leaving their family behind is something that doesn't appeal. Smaller houses, bungalows and residential park homes in their favourite staycation spots are much more viable options.

Life in a Residential Park Home

Here at Allens Caravans, we have a range of beautiful residential park homes for sale across a number of our parks, all in stunning locations that allow you to enjoy your retirement in style. Surround yourself with like-minded folk in a secure park for an improved quality of life.

Don't let the secluded beauty spot locations of the Cotswolds, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire skew your judgement; you won't be off the beaten track. Our parks are close by post offices, supermarkets, doctors, dentists and hospitals to ensure that your every need is catered for.

What's more, our on-site amenities are designed with rest and relaxation in mind. We have fishing lakes, indoor swimming pools and leisure facilities, bowling greens and more to keep you entertained within your new community.

With a wide variety of new and pre-owned residential park homes available at prices you can't deny, making plans for your retirement just got a lot more exciting.

Moving Day

Perhaps you're ready to move into your residential park home, for sale signs being taken down as we speak? Moving in summertime can be stressful because of the warmer weather, so we have some sage words of advice for those about to embark on a retirement life of leisure.

  • When choosing a moving date, pick a weekday in the middle of the month. Where possible, avoid weekends and the end of the month as there will be much more traffic and movers will likely have other commitments besides moving you
  • It is important to stay hydrated. The warmer weather can take its toll, especially when moving boxes and furniture
  • Dress appropriately. Lightweight clothing that protects your skin from the sun will ensure you don't get sunburnt while moving home
  • Open windows and doors as soon as you arrive to air our your new home and cool down simultaneously
  • Pack methodically and carefully - keep breakables wrapped up securely and treasured photo albums and important documents close by
  • Pack must-have essentials in a box of their own - such as toiletries, cooking supplies, light bulbs etc  and mark as ‘Open First'
