Celebrating International Picnic Day

  • 15th Jun 2017

One of the best things about the weather getting warmer is the wealth of new possibilities that the change in temperature brings. No longer are we confined to our homes and residential caravan parks by freezing weather and short, grey days. Instead, as summer arrives, more and more of us choose to spend increasing amounts of our time out and about, exploring all the many delights that the great British countryside has to offer.

Summer is a time for travelling, for exploring, for family and making the most of the nice weather. While your bank balance may not allow you to book yourself onto a five-star luxury foreign holiday, there are plenty of other ways in which you can enjoy the weather, a little closer to home.

International Picnic Day

For instance, June 18th marks the occasion of International Picnic Day. This day is basically designed to do what it says on the tin - to encourage people to get out and about in the countryside and enjoy a delicious picnic!

However, International Picnic Day is also the perfect opportunity to gather your loved ones close and spend some quality time together as a family. All of our residential caravan parks allow visitors, so why not invite your nearest and dearest down to visit this summer and take some time to celebrate the occasion with one another?

Get Prepared

Simply pack up a selection of your favourite picnic food, from sandwiches to salad to pork pies, sausage rolls and cheese. For dessert, cakes and biscuits will keep any little ones happy, or go for a refreshing fruit salad - perfect for enjoying outside in warm summer weather. Don't forget the drinks, either, as rising temperatures mean you will want more to drink. It's always a sensible idea to pack some water, even if you are planning to enjoy an indulgent bottle of wine alongside your food. For the kids, fizzy drinks are a favourite, or choose fruity drinks or juice for an alternative option.

Once you have got your picnic basket ready, alongside blankets, plates, cups and any cutlery you may require, the only thing left to do is to pick out the perfect location. Why not make a day of it, and combine the picnic with a pleasant walk in the countryside?

All of our residential caravan parks are located amongst stunning scenery, offering you plenty of options when it comes to finding the perfect picnic spot.

Wherever you choose to celebrate International Picnic Day, make sure that you make the most of the opportunity to relax and spend some quality time out in the countryside with your loved ones this summer.
